What time is it?

February 1st.  No particular significance about this day other than it's the first day in a really long time I really don't have anything better to do than to blog.  Monday I decided to take a little break from school.  I was so burned out - NO, beyond burned out.... I have been contemplating this for 2 months now, and the first 4 weeks of January didn't get any better.  I was going back and forth about it, but in a quick decision I decided to drop my classes and get my bearings for a bit.  A huge weight was lifted off my shoulders, not constantly thinking about all the things I have to do for all my classes, and scouts, and having nothing left to give to my children, husband, and even myself.  It feels weird to assert time for myself.  It's as if I have been sitting here going "Um, I'll just take whatever is left" and it ended up just being the fat and gristle that I didn't want either, but took because, well... that is all thats ever left.  And it's crap.

So now I have time to look at the grocery store ads to see whats one sale.  I have the time to go through and critique all the poor grammar and punctuation on Facebook (I really love you all, it's just a disease I have..).  I have time to start reading blogs, articles, stupid news, and watching The Soup again.  I have time to hide the Cadbury Eggs so none of us can find them until like September (curse the stores for putting them out before Valentines day is even here!  I have to buy the first bag I see each year.)  I have time to clean up the house after the kids have been playing all morning (not saying I will), and I even have time to go over our taxes from last year to avoid getting audited again.  yes - I said again.  We just got audited and found out our stupid tax guy made some crucial and costly errors requiring us to pay $3500 plus penalties and crap.  Before you ask - NO, he doesn't have to do anything about it, the taxpayer has all the liability still.  Some places just put in that added bonus that if that ever happens they will pay.  Our place just didn't.  Lucky us.

So, to wrap up, last year was a doozie, and lets hope that this year doesn't top it or even try to compete.  I just listed everything we went through last year and had to delete it - way too dramatic sounding and debbie-downer-ish.  These are all first-world problems people, there are third-world country problems that would make me cry just talking about, so lets move on...

I've decided to try to pick up a novel - yes, a book to read that is not a textbook that puts you to sleep.  I read the first page of the "The Help" and realized I had to make lunch for the kindergartener.  Someday I will read it!  I've got the time...
Yes, I've got the time to:  clean up his major messes.  I lovingly refer to them as "demolition derby's"
To watch Jazz games.  Jr. Jazz that is.  Firstborn is a blur, she's cute to watch ball it up.
To get a new little kitten and try to keep her alive in the midst of children that almost kill her every day.
To celebrate birthdays with the most handsome and deserving man I know...
To have a loving sitter come over and watch our kids so we could go to this charming Castle B&B..
And I've got time to snuggle my sweet little new friend named Simone, but the kids call her "Monie-monie"...  Look at those blue eyes!  I'm just steps away from getting the crazy cat lady nominee!!

Like a happy new year, new GOOD things to happen!

I'm convinced 2012 has to be better than 2011 was.
